This contest is only open to individual singer-songwriters who are legal residents of the contiguous 48 states of the U.S. and the District of Columbia (excluding HI, AK, and Puerto Rico) and 16 years of age or older. Between one and five video submissions per artist will be accepted. Your submission MUST be a video of an ORIGINAL SONG. No covers will be accepted. You can create an original video or you can submit one that you already have. The video must first be uploaded onto YouTube. Once you have created and uploaded the video onto YouTube or designated which video you'd like to submit, simply copy the video's URL, log in to your Songwriter 5 account and paste the URL into your channel's playlist.

The video must be no longer than 7 minutes in length and the song must be an original work.
Get as many people as you can, your family, your friends, the people you work with...  Get everyone to watch, follow and share your channel. Share it on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and all the other provided social networks by clicking SHARE on your songwriter channel to promote it! While not the only thing that matters, views, follows and shares will increase your contest rank and help get you noticed, points are not the only thing that count! Performances will be evaluated by the Guitar Center Judging Panel and Ariel Rechtshaid based on the following criteria: technique, authenticity, originality, and style.
